    Married User Name Change

One of my users recently got married.  We changed her name over from Joan L. Smith to Joan E. Lech.  Basically we did a rename in AD and then changed all of the various properties associated with Exchange and her system login on AD.  She used to login as JLS now JEL.  Her email follows suit with the login, so it used to be jls@xxxxxx.com now it's jel@xxxxxxx.com.  We are keeping her old address active for a few months.  The problem we currently have is with the AutoComplete in Outlook.  Currently and in the past if I type in jls her name would immediately resolve.  Now when I type in jel the list does not automatically resolve and I have to click the check name button.  Even if I don't click the check name the email will send correctly.  But if I type in JLS the AutoComplete will resolve Joan E. Lech.  In my to: line I when her name resolves I currently see   Joan E. Lech  <JLS>   I think the JLS is my problem.

Outlook is in online mode and not cached exchange mode.  I have tried to delete the outlook.n2k file but that hasn't resolved the problem.  I have also looked into her AD attributes using ADSI Edit and found the legacyExchangeDN attribute still has JLS listed.  Could that be the problem? Can I just change that and will all free/busy info and email continue to flow?   Any ideas?  Thanks.

Rebuild the offline address book after you have checked all of the entries in AD for the user are correct (check all the tabs)

In outlook (the name at the top after mailbox) this only changes if you close outlook, open the mail icon in control panel and change the exchange username. (the bit where you specify the exchange server and the username and can click the check name box).  I believe this is the only way to reset it, certainly on the local machine.

I had a similar problem recently and this resolved it.

If the cache is new (having deleted the file) then I would imagine the address book still has old details.

Did you make jel@xxxxxxx.com her primary address in AD?

Would that have something to do with it?

Wow where I live names don't change. You keep your last name. If the woman wants to change it they have to pay 120$ so most don't.

    Re: Married User Name Change

Oh no quite true. When I got married the judge we talked to actually said they changed the law because the previous law was on the books said that the woman would belong to the man once they were married. Needless to say that interpretation was somewhat unpopular with a little over half the population and it was modernized. As a result they decided to abandone the idea that the woman should take on the name of the man. Now what does this little factoid have to do with the original post? no clue.. thought it was interesting. I might have to moderat myself for being O/T Embarrassed
