    Problem needs solution.

    Hi Guys,

I have an interesting problem for you all, we have a client with 15 shops that need to send paper based orders etc... to a central head office which is running a win2k3 server, each shop has a PC, printer, scanner, and a VPN connection to head office. The current system does the following:

Scans to local folder on PC -> FTP Program sends to FTP server at head office -> Monitoring Program at head office prints to Office Printer.

Currently we have lots of issues with unreliable scanners, FTP server losing configs, printers etc....

Is there anyway to do this but simpler and more reliable?

    Regards in advance

You could look at printing directly if the file sizes are low (which they probably should be).

I also remember HP having something called a digital sender that scanned and sent without the need for a PC.

    cheers

yeah, as long as the vpn is stable, you should be able to map the printer for the clients so that they can directly print to the head office...

A lack of planning on your part does not constitute an emergency on my part.

or scan direct to the HQ server, set up a share.

Or buy a program like Laserfiche that lets you scan into a tree directory.
