    FAX Server - Suggestions please.

Hi guys, I'm looking to see what you guys are using as a fax server.

Right now, i'm running 4 Sight Fax for MAC OS. But it's old and running on a older computer and only with the old OS. SO it's time to upgrade.

I want to move it to a windows server, but not sure which server to pick. But i'd like something intuitive and easy to setup.

We have the rack of modems already and we're just waiting for something to install. Please help, any input would be appreaciated.

    Thanks

Have you ever thought about using like an Efax solution?

We typically deal with smaller sites.   The faxing in Microsoft Small  Business Server has been excellent for them.   It doesn't have individual mailboxes but a simple central repository.  For a larger site, I haven't had to check into it.

In a pinch Windows 2003 Server (if you already have it anyhow) has faxing built in and new to the 2003 series You can share the fax to the network.  I believe the client machines have to be Windows XP or higher.   The central repository can be an email, folder or printed (or all three).   Small Business Server 2003 has Sharepoint as a third location.  I don't know if that can be added to Windows 2003.  Haven't looked.

     Hope it helps.

Well all else fails, make an offering to the computer gods. Preferably in small unmarked bills.

Hey!! I just had to re-install our old Fax Server on another machine. Reminding me of how horrible our current software is.

We really need to get something!

Our company currently have about 100 fax numbers being directed to it from our PBX. It has 12 modems and send and recieves faxes all day long. (sending faxes to different email addresses)

So, the Server 2003 idea sounds nice, but i dont' think it will cut it.

We use eFax and direct them into Mail-Enabled Public Folders.  We don't typically send Faxes out, so that is not an issue.  We do have another Client of ours that uses GFI FaxMaker.  They have some excellent Products....

    Thanks for the Reply.

Actually we've dropped the FaxSys, which was actually? FACSYS, my mistake.

I was looking up the wrong software. But we're trying out the GFI FaxMaker right now. It's a bit pricy, but if it does the job, we'll try it.

Well as for EFAX won't work, we need to house it internally.

We have our software that sends out faxes automatically so it needs to connect to the server. or at least send them via smtp. Also the faxes have to come in as PDF.
