Convert Physical Machines to VHDs on the fly

What is Microsoft's equivalent (or answer) to VMware's Converter software (http://www.vmware.com/download/converter/) which converts running machine to VMDKs on the fly?

Microsoft has a toolkit, if you need help just shout

So, I'm reading the VSMT installation document, and I'm getting the distinct impression that this isn't just "install VSMT, convert running machine to another drive (like USB)". Has anyone used it, and can comment?

Anyone? It looks like I'd have to pre-deploy a Virtual Server 2005, and then use the VSMT to create the virtual machine?
