Add Custom Search Provider to IE7

Sponsor

By default IE7 will use Live Search to find what you are looking for.  You can customize this and add custom search providers to allow you to search whatever you want from within IE7.  Up in the top left corner, next to the search box, click on the bottom pointing triangle to bring up the search settings.

Click on Find More Providers.  You will be taken to a page with a bunch of additional search providers but you can also create a custom one.

To create one, do a search on the page you want to add.  Search for TEST and copy the results URL into the first diaog box.   If you want to add Thelazyadmin as a search provider insert "http://thelazyadmin.com/search/SearchResults.aspx?q=TEST" without the quotes.  Enter the name for the custom provider in the next box and click the install button.

Click Add Provider and you will see the provider added to the search bar in IE7.

This will work with all versions of IE7 on XP or Vista.  If you are running Vista you can get an RSS or Search sidebar gadget for Thelazyadmin.com as well.
