Wipe Your WM5 Device in OWA

Sponsor

So you are out late, had a few pints, get home and the next day you realize you lost your Windows Mobile 5 device.  Well you can call your mobile carrier and have them freeze the account but that won't get rid of your contacts, email messages and other information on the device.  Luckily you can perform a remote wipe via Outlook Web Access 2007!

Log into OWA and click on Options in the top right corner.  Under Options click on Mobile Devices.  Here you will see a list of devices you have associated with your mailbox.

If you have more than one device make sure you select the correct one and then click on Wipe All Data from Device.

Click OK and you will see the status switch to Pending Wipe.

The next time the device syncs with the Exchange server it will be wiped.

The last step is to remove the device from the list.  You can leave it here, but if you find the device and try to re-establish the connection it will continue being wiped upon first sync until you remove it.  Simply select the device and click on Remove Device from List.

One final thing.  If your device has a slot for additional memory like a SD/MMC/CF card this card will not be wiped so be careful what data you put on those cards!
