Being a Lazy Admin and PowerShell...

Sponsor

The Merriam-Webster dictionary has several definitions for the word lazy. While I believe that most of the definitions do not apply to TheLazyAdmin, This one is fitting: “Disinclined to activity or exertion”

So what does this definition have to do with being a LazyAdmin, and Powershell? Let me tell you. As you may know there are many tasks that you will be challenged with from day to day that require you manually parse through a backlog of data, and update them. Many times I’m sure you catch yourself thinking “There must be a faster, better Way?” Often we dismiss a faster way of doing something because by the time we have found the quicker solution, we could have already been done the original task! I will come out and say I am disinclined to the activity of repetitive manual labour, and unproductive exertion. PowerShell when mastered is all about giving you the tools and knowledge to quickly move through heterogeneous environments, and effect specific or general changes. Further if you can do it in the GUI then you can do it in PowerShell. The key is you’ll be able to discover how to do many of these tasks quickly and effectivly. As we get things back in gear hear at the lazy admin we’re going to start with PowerShell. Stay tuned for tips and tricks that we’ll get managing your Windows servers in ways that we’ll make the most savvy *ix admin green with envy.
