One of the bigger upgrades available in R2 is the File Server Resource Manager (FSRM). With FSRM you can manage quotas, file screening, file system reporting and DFS for your network from one MMC console. FSRM provides complete control over file servers as well as reporting of any issues with quotas, file screening, DFS and more!
FSRM is pretty easy to get up and running. It is installed from Add/Remove Windows Components | Management and Monitoring Tools | File Server Resource Manager. You will need the R2 CD to install it.

Once installed, configuration is pretty straight-forward. Open up the File Server Resource Manager MMC from Administrative Tools and right-click the File Server Resource Manager node; select Configure Options. Under the e-mail notifications tab you can specify the SMTP server, the default administrator recipient and the default "From" account. You can also send a test e-mail to ensure it is working.

The Storage Reports tab allows you to configure the parameters for report generation. These reports can be generated from the various options you can configure.

The Report Locations tab allows you to configure the default locations to which the reports will be saved. You can configure the reports to be emailed, but they are all saved to the hard drive as well.

Lastly, you can configure the file screening option to record all actions to a database to be reviewed via the File Screening Audit.
